The City Government of Naga announces the suspension of afternoon classes in all public schools at all levels today, July 9, 2026.
This measure was ordered due to the ashfall experienced in the city following the moderately explosive eruption of Mount Kanlaon earlier today. The suspension was directed by Valdemar Chiong, in coordination with Ronald Gutay, to ensure the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and school personnel.
For private schools, the suspension of classes is left to the discretion of their respective school heads and administrators.
All residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, follow official advisories, and take the necessary precautions against volcanic ashfall.
Stay safe, Nagahanons!
