Following the moderately explosive eruption of Mount Kanlaon reported by DOST-PHIVOLCS on July 9, 2026, residents of the City of Naga are advised to remain vigilant as ashfall may affect parts of the city depending on wind direction.
To protect yourself and your family, please observe the following safety measures:
- 😷 Wear a face mask (preferably an N95 mask). If unavailable, use a surgical mask or a clean, damp cloth to reduce inhalation of volcanic ash.
- 🏠 Stay indoors whenever possible, especially during periods of ashfall. Keep doors and windows closed.
- 🫁 Take extra care of your respiratory health. Individuals with asthma, chronic cough, or other respiratory conditions should avoid outdoor exposure. Seek medical attention immediately if you experience difficulty breathing.
- 💧 Protect food and drinking water by keeping them properly covered to prevent contamination from volcanic ash.
- 🌬️ Minimize indoor ash exposure by turning off electric fans or air-conditioning units that draw air from outside.
- 🐄 Protect your pets and livestock by keeping them in sheltered areas and ensuring their food and water remain free from ash.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and City Environment and Natural Resources Office encourage everyone to stay informed by following official advisories issued by the City Government.
Let us all remain alert, take the necessary precautions, and work together to keep our community safe.
Keep safe, mga Nagahanon!
